Happy Spring! This month I will be following up with my blog from last month (What do I need to include on my Client-Focused Website) to touch on recommendations of important items to include on your supporter-focused website.

What should I include on my supporter-focused website as a pregnancy help organization?

Your supporter-focused website is a great opportunity to showcase what you are all about and why you are passionate about the pregnancy help movement. Think about what your supporter/donor focused audience is looking for when they come to your website. Are they looking to learn more about your center? Are they looking to get involved? Would they like to donate and are they looking for an easy way to do so? This is a great place to share your heart as a PHO and offer information to inspire, educate, and inform. Supporters want to know why it is you do what you do, what your goals are as a center, and how you are making a change.

Some important items to include on your supporter focused website:

Your mission and who you are – Include pictures of your team and maybe some introductions telling a bit about each team member.

Client stories telling the impact you have on your community (Let your supporters know how lives are being changed at your center!)

Upcoming events/fundraisers

Volunteer and job opportunities

How to donate (and specific items you may need)

Services offered at your location(s)

Goals you have reached and goals you are working toward.

There is a lot of information to provide on a supporter site – Make sure it is easily understood

Use your supporter website to its maximum potential. Put things simply so that your target audience for this site can easily understand who you are and how what you do as a center is making a difference. It is important that those visiting your website to learn more don’t have to dig to try to understand what you are all about and how they can get involved.

Consider using images and/or videos that let your stories as a center and your client’s stories (if given permission) to show your passion in a whole other light.

Lastly, be sure to promote your supporter website where it makes sense (flyers, church boards, supporter-focused Facebook & Instagram accounts, etc.) so that those looking to get involved know where to find you.

Don’t forget – You’re doing great!

Jenn here! Welcome back to another edition of Jenn’s Question of the Month, where I will cover a commonly asked question that we get from those throughout the pregnancy help community. Last month was focused on the importance of a Pregnancy Help Organization having two separate websites for each of their very different target audiences.

This month (keeping somewhat around that topic) I want to cover half of a question we often get – What do I need to include on my client-focused website?

Next month I will cover the second half of this question, which of course will be – What do I need to include on my supporter-focused website?

What should I include on my client-focused website as a Pregnancy Help Organization?

When creating your client-focused website, there are many important factors to consider when thinking about what the goals are for this website. An important question to start out with is – What is your client-focused audience looking for when they come to this website? It is important to remember to provide information that will answer all of the questions someone might have when visiting your site, as well as many ways to engage with someone and give opportunities to let them connect with you if they choose to.

Some important items to be sure to include on your client-focused website are:

An overview of your center.

Information on what they can expect when coming to your center.

The services, classes, resources, etc. you provide

Medical facts/information to answer the many questions one may have including facts about pregnancy, abortion, APR, adoption, parenting, STDs, etc. (Be sure to check out one of our recent blogs “Abortion Information: Should I Have It on my Client Website?” for more information about including medical information on your client-focused website).

A call to action: A very clear and obvious way they can connect with your organization (Phone, address, live chat, text, scheduler, contact form, etc.) so that they don’t have a difficult time finding out how to reach out to you for help/questions. Consider the header or footer for these details as well as a contact us page and a slider on the home page.

A blog to offer more information, facts, and resources (this will also significantly help with your websites overall search engine optimization (SEO)!

Keep your client website simple, neutral, and to the point always keeping her in mind!

Remember, it is important to keep your website clear and up to date. Reviewing and updating every page on your site often ensures your information is correct and relatable as words and culture constantly change from generation to generation. Be sure to also keep images on your website refreshed often so that your website doesn’t look dated and unattended to.

Don’t forget – You’re doing great!

My name is Jennifer Breymaier and I am with the Extend Team here at Heartbeat International. I have been with Extend for almost five years and I truly love working with each of you every day, partnering with you and doing all that we can to provide you with tools to help strengthen your online presence and reach more women in need.

Beautiful pensive young african woman casually dressed standing isolated over blue background

We receive many important questions every day here at Extend! I wanted to take the time to highlight one of those questions we get each month to make sure that you have the information you need to successfully build connections with those you are trying to reach as a pregnancy help organization.

A very popular question we receive that I am focusing on this month is, “Why have two separate websites?” The simple response – you have two very different audiences.

Audience 1: Your Clients

It is crucial to have a website focused on those who are looking for information regarding pregnancy help. A website to encourage and help those who may be scared or confused, find the strength they need to make decisions that their future depends on. It is important to center this site around the people who are seeking help, facts, or looking into services you offer that may be of help to them. Leading women to information and facts on topics such as pregnancy, parenting, adoption, abortion, etc. to make sure that they know all their options and what comes along with each of these choices. They may not be aware that you offer classes, clothing, and other services that can help them throughout their pregnancy and beyond. They may not know how to reach you or the easiest way to get ahold of you. This website is your tool to bring light to these services. Your website is often the first place people go to learn more about you, so make sure that you have a website dedicated to anyone looking for help no matter what stage of life they are currently in.

Audience 2: Your Supporters

Now to switch gears, think about a very different audience that you have as a pregnancy help organization – Your supporters, your volunteers, and donors. Those looking to support pregnant mothers in need and wanting to know things about you as a pregnancy center, like what your mission is, what your goals are, how they can get involved, who makes up your team and why you are passionate about this mission.

Having a separate site to focus on events you have upcoming, ways they can support mothers in need, and how to help bring encouragement to everyone that walks through your door; this allows you to make all this information easily accessible to those who want to support you. Your second website helps you to focus on important information for your supporters and not worry about taking up crucial space on your client-focused website but still make that vital connection with your supporters.

Keep It Simple

Having two separate websites to acknowledge all the different information you would want to share with your client-focused audience and your supporter-focused audience will allow you to differentiate your websites to help avoid confusion and to allow each audience to easily find the important information they are seeking. As a pregnancy help organization you have so much crucial information to get to both your client audience and your supporter audience. An overloaded website that includes large amounts of information that makes it hard for someone to find what they are looking for can turn someone away quickly. Two sites can allow you to keep these topics simple, clean, and understandable.
